Hanging Situations Ivy Mach-1

Elie Wiesel and his father remain in the camp, Buna. After, they gotten a medical and a dental check up. One of the doctors noticed a golden tooth in Elie's mouth and was told that he was to come back and have it removed. Elie holded back on going to the dentist, saying that he was sick. eventually the doctor was hanged for pocketing all the golden tooth. Afterwards, they were assigned to a Kapo. They were assigned to a Kapo named Idek. Some of the past prisoners told them that they were assigned to a good Kapo, but to beware of his short temper and don’t get in his way or there will be consequences. They worked in an electrical warehouse unit. One day, Idek had a need to throw his temper on someone and Elie was a perfect fit for it. He was punched and kicked. A French Aryan girl that sat next to him during work tries to comfort him after. Soon Elie's father was a victim of Idek's rampages and Elie had no pity for him. One day, Idek made his group march to a block and stand there all afternoon. Elie got curious and started wandering around inside a block. He found Idek and a German girl doing things. Idek was furious and made Elie give up his gold crown as for a pay back. A few weeks later, Idek was sent to another camp. A prisoner was found stealing food that was later going to be distributed, was hanged. Also three prisoners was found with possession of wepons and was hanged. Elie was so scared that even food didn't seem appealing anymore.

In chapter four Elie and his father remain at Buna. After, the prisoners got a medical and dental examination they were chosen by a Kapo to work in a unit. Luckily Eliezer and his father were placed together in a warehouse for electrical equipment. Idek, their Kapo has a very short temper and is best to stay out of his way. In this musician block Eliezer meets Juliek,Yosi, and Tibi. Eliezer is called to the dentist to have his gold crown removed but he manages to put off the tooth removal by saying he's sick. Soon after, the dentist is punished for pocketing some gold crowns and even though the dentist had a tragic death Elie felt no pity for him. Idek lost his temper and beat Eliezer, the "Aryan" French girl tried to comfort him by telling him to not lose hope. Not long after Elies father was a victim of one of Ideks violent rages. This caused Elie to feel anger towards his father for not knowing to stay away. This is an example of how the camp has changed Eliezer. Franek the prisoner’s foreman notices Elies gold crown and ask for it and Elie refuses to give it to him as his father told him not to. Yet Franek didn’t give up and began abusing Elies father until Elie finally gave up and gave him his gold crown. Days later all prisoners are transferred to a different camp and Elie realizes he gave up his crown for nothing. On a Sunday, there was an air raid were all prisoners were to remain in there block and if found at sight they were to be shot. These prisoners were left with two cauldrons soup as they all longed for it but did not dare to get it because they were scared to leave the barrack. Only one prisoner dare to risk his life as the others watched him and as he stuck his head in the soup he was shot. A week later the SS officers had this hanging ceremony were two men and a little boy were hanged. The prisoners felt that the hang of the child was an act of cruelty and Elie feels that god died along with the boy. This shows that Elies religious beliefs have completely been destroyed. In my opinion I believe that Elie is a completely different person now because he no longer has faith and as time goes by he will just become worst and grow hate within him.

"Night" Section 4-Hilary Duarte per. 2

In section 4 of "Night" Elie and his father  remain at Buna. Here they are placed too work in a warehouse counting electrical fittings. They are placed here along with Jewish muscians and the block is headed by a kind German Jew, but with a Kapo who sometimes has "fits a madness" and releases his anger on the Jews. Not long after working here Elie is called to the dentist to have his gold crown removed, but Elie is clever and holds off his dentist appoinment long enough until the dentist is hanged  for trading the gold for his own well-being. Even though the dentist dies a tragic death Elie feels no pity for him because he is too concerned for himself and his own well-being. One day as Elie is working at the warehouse, Idek has one of his fits and needlessly beats.After Elie  finds comfort with a French girl who works next to him whom he thought spoke no German , but finds out that she speaks fluently.  Not long after Elie's own father is victim to one of Ideks's rampages as well. After Elie finds himself mad at his father for not being able to stay away from Idek and realizes how much the camps have changed him. Days later a prison foreman sees Elies's gold crown and asks for it. Elie refuses to give it up as advice from his father. The foreman starts to beat his father until Elie gives up the crown. Days later the Polish prisoners are transferered to another camp and Elie feels as if he gave up his crown for nothing. During an air raid to Buna 2 cauldronsof soup are left unattended in the middle of the camp and all the prisoners are staring at them with hunger in their eyes, but no one dares to get any for fear of death. One man steps out of his block and just as he is about to feed himself he is shot. Days later two men and a little boy are hung form the gallows . Elie says that if there is a God how could he l;et a little boy be hung and realizes that his faith has been shattered.
